Dr. Grieve is the Eugene area’s expert at oral appliance therapy to treat sleep apnea and snoring. Even as a young man growing up, he had an eye for detail and a strong interest in technology. Through college, Dr. Grieve developed a solid foundation in science, ethics, and critical thinking and even earned an A+ in Physics.
Earning degrees in both Biology and Philosophy, Dr. Grieve showed his motivation to explore and discuss what he has yet to learn in the form of an empirical scientist. He then earned a degree in General Dentistry from the University of California. While attending dental school, he helped found the Student Dental Research Group, of which he was elected President for two years. For his research in Oral Biology during dental school, he was granted two Fellowships from the National Institute of Health. Dr. G was elected to the National Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, for his exceptional performance as a student.
Following dental school, Dr. Grieve earned a Post-Doctoral Orthodontic Fellowship from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Grieve continued his research in Oral Biology, and he earned a Master of Science degree. His involvement in the dental profession and the local community has been extensive since establishing his Eugene practice in 1991. Having lived in many large cities of the country, he chose to live in Eugene because of its university, its proximity to the ocean and mountains, and its overall livability. As the organizer for the Lane County Children’s Dental Health Month in the early 90’s, he has seen the program develop into the National “Give Kids a Smile Day”!
He has been elected to all of the offices in the Lane County Dental Society and has authored a helpful book titled “How To Choose An Orthodontist”. The doctor has the honor of being listed in Who’s Who of Professionals Nationally, and he has published orthodontic and dental research in the Journal of Dental Research, as well as the American Journal of Orthodontics and Orthopedics — the orthodontic profession’s most respected journal. His research is continually cited by other researchers both nationally and internationally as a basis for their orthodontic research projects. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, The World Federation of Orthodontists, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
A passion for service has led Dr. Grieve to develop skills in all areas of orthodontic treatment and specialize in personalized care for each patient. He displays a cool style with a warm heart and places a great emphasis on early treatment evaluations (age eight and under). His goal is to provide as much information as possible to loving and knowledgeable parents about the early development of their children. At the same time, Dr. Grieve is recognized for being a leader in the treatment of adults. About thirty percent of his patients benefiting from treatment are over the age of eighteen.
